When people think of false teeth they imagine something that you take out every night and pop in a glass of water by the bed.

Now you can forget about putting your teeth in with implant-retained dentures. Implants are an increasingly popular option for replacing missing teeth rather than conventional bridges or partial dentures. They are inserted directly into the jawbone like the roots of natural teeth and the denture is securely fixed to the implants, so you won't even know you have any false teeth at all.

Dental implants are often be carried out painlessly under local anaesthestic by a qualified dental surgeon. This means you are awake throughout the treatment, but the part of your mouth being worked on is completely numb.

Clinical Dental Technician (denturist) Barrie Semp Dip Cdt RCS (Eng) says: "A minor surgical procedure is required to place the implants and we then use Ivoclar Vivadent ® denture teeth and denture base plastics, which are designed to work in conjunction with the implants."

While denture implants are increasingly popular they are not appropriate for everyone. You need to have healthy gums and a sufficient thickness of jawbone to allow the implants to be fitted correctly.

The Same Day Dentures can fit dentures on to existing denture implants. Please note that the surgical fitting of dental implants or indeed any surgical procedure cannot be carried out by Same Day Dentures. If implants have not been surgically placed this can be done by a qualified dental surgeon.
